Principal's Message

Millicoma Families,

Welcome back to a new year at Millicoma!  I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and that the summer has provided you some much needed time together.

We have two new faces joining our staff this year, including Kevin Guthrie, our new Assistant Principal. Kevin comes to us from Marshfield High School and will work half-time at Millicoma and half-time next door at Eastside.  Also joining us is Taylor Burke, who comes to us from California to teach 4th grade.

Our staff is hard at work preparing for the return of students in September. Your child’s teacher(s) will be in contact soon regarding class assignment and to schedule a parent conference during our Coos Bay Schools K-6 Kick-Off Week. This meeting will be an important opportunity for you and your student(s) to meet with their teacher to discuss school procedures, academic curriculum, social-emotional needs, and to verify meal and transportation plans. This meeting will also provide our teachers with time to assess academic baselines for students.

Important dates as we begin our school year include:
-       Kick-off conference week 9/6/22-9/9/22
-       First day of in person school 9/12/22
